With the theme "Mediterranean Diet and Culinary Roots: Health and Tradition", chefs @rosa.matto and @chefkanepollard served up a #zerowaste tasting menu showcasing sustainability and tradition. Slow Food SA leader Tania Paola spoke about the Slow Food movement’s origins in Italy, and its synergy with this year’s theme, given that the preserving of culinary heritage and traditions is the foundation of the movement.

Consul Dr. Ernesto Pianelli highlighted the Mediterranean Diet's environmental and health benefits, while @endfoodwasteaus CEO Dr Steven Lapidge shared eye-opening stats on food wastage and their mission to cut it in half by 2030. @_mandyhall explained that 7.7 million tonnes of food per day end up in the rubbish bin and talked about @thegreatunwaste nationwide consumer change campaign End Food Waste recently launched.

Rosa and Kane explained the Slow Food concept of nose to tail eating, and each dish was made with sustainable and zero-waste ingredients. It was also great listening to Slow Food member and chef @enrico_sgarbossa_ speak about the zero-waste bread he made with leftover pizza dough.

An inspiring afternoon of heritage, innovation, and delicious food! 🐌

The recent launch of Slow Food South Australia's C The recent launch of Slow Food South Australia's Chefs’ Alliance led by committee member @chefkanepollard and supported by our Patron Cheong Liew OAM, was held at Fern Ave Community Garden in Fullarton – the ideal location with its interesting farming history and focus on sustainable gardening practices 🌱

To celebrate the launch, five ‘Terra Madre style’ chef tasting stations with special dishes were created throughout the garden by @chefkanepollard, @nicktadija, @rosa.matto, @enrico_sgarbossa_ , and @anthonyjulianto.fire.and.pen who prepared Cheong Liew’s dish. This gave guests an opportunity to walk around and explore the various, enchanting areas of the garden 🌿

The Chefs’ Alliance is a network of chefs defending food biodiversity who pay respect to traditional methods and training for future generations. The Alliance is closely connected with our Snail of Approval recognition program which shines a light on artisan producers, chefs and businesses in the food industry who embrace the Slow Food ethos of #goodcleanfair food from our regions.

Here are a few photos from one of this year's @nat Here are a few photos from one of this year's @naturefestivalsa events 🌿

Committee Member and local Prospect resident @rosa.matto led two fantastic workshops in collaboration with @cityofprospect

The first, Garden to Table - Waste Not Cooking with Slow Food, was a great success, and the second, Build Your Own Herb Garden for young people was filled with fun and creativity. 🌼

A hands-on experience, our young participants learnt about #slowfood and the basics on how to create a thriving garden even in the smallest space before making their own mini veggie garden to take home. Each participant also received a copy of 'My First Garden' booklet, authored by Rosa. 🐌

A big thank you to @delphine126 for taking the lovely photos and to committee members Thilini, Rick & Marcelle their help during the events.
