Food Education

The Slow Food global network believes in the importance of passing on knowledge about local food cultures. By understanding where our food comes from, how it was produced and by whom, adults and children can learn how to combine pleasure and responsibility in daily choices and appreciate the cultural and social importance of food. Read more about our global education initiatives here.

Slow Food South Australia aims to convey the Slow Food philosophy of good, clean and fair food to our local community through educational and inspiring events for Slow Food members and the general public. Our events and activities take many different forms, including farm visits, informative dinners, interactive cooking demonstrations, hands-on workshops, knowledge exchange between generations, meals with producers and much more.

Please contact us if your organisation would like a guest speaker to explore ways to introduce Slow Food values into our lives.

Workshops for building a first garden - we have devised very successful models for presenting workshops in the  establishment of  a small productive garden. We are happy to do sessions for young people around 7-10 years old.

We also have a workshop designed for adults.

SLOW FOOD in the Primary Schools curriculum

Last year we successfully piloted an interactive unit for primary school years 4-5.

If you are a teacher keen to introduce your students to SLOW FOOD values, please talk to us.
