Congratulations to our latest #snailofapproval recipient, Ballycroft Vineyard and Cellars 🐌

When it comes to sustainability, you don't get much better than what owners Joseph and Sue have created at their beautiful winery in the Barossa Valley.

From the 100% rain fed vineyard hand pruned and picked, to even the smallest details such as reusing wastewater, grape mark and stalks fed to sheep, down to the wine labels made from Australian sugar cane waste, every aspect of the process has been meticulously assessed to reduce their environmental footprint.
Solar panels and batteries power the winery, no petrol tractors or machinery are used, just their electric mower and 2 Nissan leaf vehicles used for deliveries. They also keep bees and chickens to assist with the farming process 🐓

They currently hold private tastings and winery tours with Joseph, but have plans to build an off-grid 'Earthship' Tasting Room which will double as a food education hub, alongside the orchard and vegetable garden 🌱

Stong advocates for and pioneers in green, groundbreaking technology, Ballycroft are well deserving of this recognition, their philosophy aligning perfectly with the Good, Clean and Fair principles of Slow Food

Committee Member and local Prospect resident @rosa.matto led two fantastic workshops in collaboration with @cityofprospect

The first, Garden to Table - Waste Not Cooking with Slow Food, was a great success, and the second, Build Your Own Herb Garden for young people was filled with fun and creativity. 🌼

A hands-on experience, our young participants learnt about #slowfood and the basics on how to create a thriving garden even in the smallest space before making their own mini veggie garden to take home. Each participant also received a copy of 'My First Garden' booklet, authored by Rosa. 🐌

A big thank you to @delphine126 for taking the lovely photos and to committee members Thilini, Rick & Marcelle their help during the events.
